Transition History

At CenturyLink™, we understand the pressures of delivering a smooth transition from one contract to another. That's why the architecture we chose when we created the CenturyLink network was digital by design — from the ground up. This has enabled us to bring new products to market with outstanding speed. Plus, have always remained mindful that our customers often need to manage the transition to new services with one foot firmly planted in existing technologies. Therefore, we have created products that seamlessly integrated with existing networks while setting the stage to migrate customers to newer, more efficient network technologies.

Our experience and skill in the area of transition management is rooted in the people and processes in which we have invested. CenturyLink routinely exceeds both contract and industry–standard service delivery intervals, and some of our milestones include:

  • Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) and Private Line Services for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Department of Energy, and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)
  • Optical wavelength services for the National Science Foundation and Energy Sciences Network
  • Private MPLS‑based IP services for the Department of Justice
  • Internet services for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, DISA, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and Department of Treasury
  • Integrated ATM and Frame Relay for the Department of Treasury, Department of Labor, and HUD
  • Managed Security services for the Navy, HUD, Department of Treasury, and Internal Revenue Service
  • Managed hosting services for the Department of Treasury, Defense Logistics Agency, Internal Revenue Service, and National Institutes of Health
